february lady sweater... all ready for fall.

i finished the february lady sweater, and, oh, does it ever rock. i love the sweet little thang so much (as did my mom when she saw the pattern and the half-finished bits) that i started another one for her for christmas. holiday knitting begins, my friends. oy. i've got my work cut out for me. in all seriousness, this pattern is terrific. it gets the christie stamp of approval.

made using size US7 needles and cascade 220 heathers in rainier. i think i'm in love.

and it's actually sweater weather again! i wore my mrs. darcy cardigan out the other night, and i was actually comfy-cozy. i love fall.

a knitting post?! what-WHA?!

yes, indeedy. i've been working on the february lady sweater, which just doesn't lend itself to instant gratification. or maybe i just forgot about the stamina required to knit a full sweater. regardless, i'm a ways along, so i figured it was time to record the current state of affairs.

look at how pretty! i actually went with a more muted color than i'm used to (ahem). of course, it's still purple. knit up in cascades 220 heather in rainier.


and i was "commissioned" by thomas to knit up a pot handle cover. i had some noro kureyon leftover, but i wasn't sure how much... turned out it was ALMOST enough, so i doubled to work by doing two separate layers rather than holding two strands together. ah, well. just need to felt these giant wool condoms, no, i mean, pot handle covers up, sew them one inside the other, and voila!

well, best thing i've seen so far today, at least. i've been a little obsessed with the song walcott by vampire weekend. so, as i do, i was searching on youtube for it and found this little live version gem of them playing through the streets of paris. and i recognize some of those streets, which makes it doubly cool.

in knitting news, i am currently knitting up the february lady sweater. and it kicks all butt.

movers and shakers...

i am all moved out of my old place, which was right up the stairs from my new, far more awesome, far more cool (both coolness-related and temperature-related) place a story down. yes, that was a little redundant.

so i've been busy. but i've also been decompressing at night by knitting (because, hey, that's what i do). in short, i decided i should share.

first, craftiness of a different variety. bedroom color before, an ugly, sterile mint green:

and now on to the knitting! i decided i had to make the blush deep scoopneck tank/vest. and, yup, i pretty much love it.


this was also my first try at intarsia. go, me! it worked out really well, and i am no longer afraid. huzzah. look at how pretty!


and look - i've even managed to get some stuff on the walls!

yeah...

i'm numbly angry about that whole thing.

i'll post some knitting soon. i finished a hat (gift hat, so can't post photos until after the gift receiver receives it, which would require me sewing the button on and sending it) and am working on a deep scoopneck vest/tank top. it'll be hot.

other articles of clothing that don't fit the weather...

i finished these a couple of weekends ago when i went up to chicago for step two of my tooth fixing process. i'm making one of these for jes, then sending one up to ian, who loves it, but i'm not sure how it will look on a boy's head.


clearly too hot to be wearing a wool cowl. my face looks really weird here. is that really how my face looks?

wedding recap.

wedding recap time! what a seriously fantastic weekend. it was in breckenridge for one of my best friends from high school, and she was gorgeous... it was gorgeous... everything was damn near perfect.

this was the house all the faraway, young, poor guests got to stay at! it was also where the reception was at, which was AWESOME when your bed was right upstairs. sarah and tanika in the kitchen on the 4th of july, the day before the wedding.


sarah's aunt was supposed to come and do all the flower bouquets. she has a pacemaker, though, and he heart started freaking out in o'hare. her pacemaker shocked her 9 times! in the airport! poor lady... so she was all by herself in the intensive care unit in chicago. she's doing much better, apparently, thank goodness. so we all ended up doing the bouquets first thing in the morning on the 4th of july.

tanika, katrina, and i all went into town after the bouquet making. we caught a bit of the parade and found a dress for tanika and a super cute jacket for me (which i ended up REALLY needing in the cold, cold mountains!).


that night was the rehearsal dinner/barbecue/drinking fest at daniel's parents' rented place. here's me and katrina.


hunsen's the cutest. a lot of these people were people i had met years ago when i lived with my parents and went and visited sarah and daniel in champaign-urbana nearly every weekend. old familiar faces!
